TRANSFORMATION INTO A WORLD-CLASS MANUFACTURER: A BRIEF HISTORY

For more than 25 years, our company has been dedicated to precision and innovation. Before 2010, we operated in a small facility producing electrical contacts, the company was operating under the name Exel Electrical Contacts. In 2010, the current ownership group acquired the company and established Exel International Group Inc., launching the production of flexible braided connectors. Driven by an unwavering commitment to quality, we crafted connectors of exceptional performance, earning a reputation for excellence in Canada. Today, we are headquartered in a state-of-the-art facility just one hour southwest of Montreal, representing our growth into a world-class manufacturer.

PENETRATING THE GLOBAL MARKET

When Kevin Healy and Toan Tran acquired the company in 2010, their complementary strengths and expertise set us on a path to global expansion. With a commitment to continuous improvement and substantial ongoing investments in R&D, we focused on modernizing our processes and equipment, paving the way for entry into markets across Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and the Australian continent. 

NATIONAL WINNER IN INNOVATION AND PRODUCTIVITY

The annual Desjardins Entrepreneur Awards celebrate exceptional Quebec entrepreneurs for their achievements, financial performance, and community contributions. 

On October 14, 2015, Exel was honored to be named the National Winner in the Innovation and Productivity category at the Awards Gala in Montreal, Canada. 

EMBRACING LEAN AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

To ensure flawless product quality and responsive customer service, we restructured our operations based on lean manufacturing principles. In response to customer challenges and competitive pressures, we developed innovative proprietary manufacturing technology. 

 

Transitioning to a fully digital manufacturing platform allowed us to achieve ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, driving significant growth. In 2018, we strategically acquired an electroplating firm to expand our product offerings and capabilities. Today, Exel is proud to be the first Canadian manufacturer of copper braided cables, further strengthening our position as a trusted provider of high-performance electrical components.
